Yanghe Daqu originated in the Sui and Tang dynasties, flourished during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and was offered as tribute to Qing royalty. After the nation's founding, it became accessible to citizens nationwide. In 1979, Yanghe Daqu was recognized as one of China's top eight famous spirits and has since been honored as a national-level liquor three times.
