The 2025 Clonakilla Murrumbateman Pinot Noir is a refined and vibrant cool-climate Pinot Noir from the Canberra District, crafted in a style that emphasises purity, fragrance, and finesse. Produced by Clonakilla, this wine reflects the elegance and restraint that define Clonakilla’s approach to Pinot Noir.
Fruit is sourced from vineyards around Murrumbateman, where elevated sites, warm days, and cool evenings provide ideal conditions for slow ripening and the preservation of natural acidity. The 2025 vintage delivered fruit of excellent aromatic clarity and balance, resulting in a Pinot Noir with freshness, detail, and fine structure.
In the winery, fruit was hand-harvested and gently fermented with careful extraction to preserve delicacy and texture. Maturation in French oak barrels, including a modest proportion of new oak, added subtle spice and savoury complexity while allowing the fruit and vineyard character to remain the focus.
The wine opens with lifted aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, and rose petal, layered with hints of spice, forest floor, and dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied and finely textured, balancing bright red fruit with silky tannins and lively acidity. A long, savoury finish highlights the cool-climate elegance and precision of the wine.
Approachable in its youth with light decanting, the 2025 Murrumbateman Pinot Noir will also reward careful cellaring over the next 6–10+ years, developing additional savoury complexity and tertiary nuance.
A poised and expressive Australian Pinot Noir that captures the charm and refinement of the Canberra District.
