Vineyard
The 2023 release draws from the estate’s highest-performing parcels in Yallingup and Wilyabrup — subregions characterised by gravelly loam soils, maritime influence, and long, even ripening. Low yields, meticulous hand selection, and precision viticulture ensure fruit of exceptional concentration and balance. Fermentation takes place in small open fermenters, followed by maturation in fine French oak barriques, a modest proportion new, to refine tannins and enhance complexity.
Vintage
The 2023 vintage in Margaret River was outstanding for Cabernet Sauvignon: cool evenings, mild days, and a long ripening season produced fruit with pristine aromatics, perfect tannin ripeness, and excellent natural acidity. A vintage marked by finesse, purity, and classic regional definition.
Tasting Notes
The 2023 Deep Woods Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon opens with aromas of blackcurrant, mulberry, bay leaf, graphite, and subtle cedar. The palate is medium to full-bodied and beautifully structured, offering concentrated dark fruit, cassis, and savoury herbal notes supported by fine, layered tannins.
