94/100 — Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot · 2022 Vintage
“Dry grown vines provided the fruit for this classic Clare Cabernet, which spent two years maturing in French oak. From an excellent vintage. This is black/maroon in colour. The nose is where we first encounter the serious intensity and concentration that is a hallmark of this wine. We have notes of black fruits, mulberries, cloves, chocolate, florals, bergamot, plums and aniseed. There is evidence of the oak, in the process of integration, which is still slightly charry at the moment. There is power and length here, with the finish exhibiting fine tannins. This has fifteen years of pleasure firmly in its sights.”
94/100 — Tony Love, Wine Pilot · 2022 Vintage · Tasted: Jun 2025
“Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in its finest livery: pure varietal attractions to start: crushed blackberry and currant, gorgeous French oak spice, woody and aromatic, rich yet holding back as if there’s a secret to follow. Add then into the palate some Dutch licorice, nicely teased tannins that support its Cabernet intensity, big, bold, robust yet with a certain calmness and confidence that speaks to an audience who appreciates such charisma. A wine of well-spoken consequence.”
Claymore Black Magic Woman Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is produced in the Clare Valley from Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine is robustly structured and crafted for long-term cellaring, with richness, intensity and generous flavour profile.
The wine spent two years maturing in French oak.
The fruit was sourced from dry grown vines.
The producer notes that the wine will continue to develop richness and fruit intensity with time in bottle.
Deep crimson colour with black depths.
The nose shows mint, menthol, blackcurrant and hints of leather wrapped in subtle French oak.
The palate is soft, fleshy and full with lingering tannins, showing flavours of Christmas cake, cassia bark, tar and soft berries with subtle cedar influence from oak.
The wine is expected to improve over the next 5–15 years.
