“The more I taste Beechworth syrah, the more impressed I am by the trajectory of regional fidelity across the best expressions. Here is a top example, blaring the sub-alpine granitic post code of violet, blueberry, iodine, tapenade and in this instance, a swathe of bitter, almost sooty dried tobacco to aniseed elements across the lithe, exceptionally long finish. Gorgeous nose! The acidity is juicy, filigreed and wonderful. To be churlish, the mid-palate is a little fruit sweet, but time should galvanize the elements into an exceptional whole. Drink or hold. Screw cap.”
