Sourced exclusively from the Pira vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, this wine embodies Roagna’s traditional philosophy — purity of fruit, structural integrity, and an unwavering commitment to long-term ageing. Vineyard and Winemaking
The Pira vineyard sits on limestone-rich soils with optimal exposure, producing Nebbiolo of both power and finesse. Vines are farmed organically, with very low yields from old plantings. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in large wooden vats, followed by extended maceration to extract tannin and structure gently. The wine is then aged for approximately five years in large neutral Slavonian oak botti, with no fining or filtration, allowing the vineyard’s character to speak with absolute clarity.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of sour cherry, dried rose, tar, and wild herbs emerge with layers of spice, ironstone, and subtle earth. The palate is firm, linear, and tightly coiled, offering red berry fruit, mineral tension, and powerful yet refined tannins.
