Critic Tasting Note (2018 Vintage)
"From one of Australia's leading Pinot Noir producers, this wine is drinking so darn beautifully now. Even at first pour, there's a sublime perfume of fresh cherry, strawberry and plum woven with flower stalks, nutmeg and terra cotta. Aromas change over time, a savory spice taking the spotlight from the primary fruit. The palate is impressively structured with long length and depth, the satiny fruit held together by ultra-fine tannins. An ethereal beauty with the capacity to age until 2032, but that's utterly delicious now." – Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast
Producer Notes
The balanced acidity and energy in the wine reflect a perfect tension between soil composition, cooler temperatures during the growing season and the relatively high humidity of South Gippsland. The wine is a brilliant example of Australian terroir, where the signatures of the vineyard site and winemaker bring profound results.

Vineyard Notes
The intense and exquisitely balanced Bass Phillip Reserve Pinot Noir is derived from a remarkably low-yielding vineyard of just 9,000 vines per hectare and 270 grams of fruit per vine. Anchored in deep mineral soils renowned for producing particularly intense and concentrated fruit, the Reserve Pinot Noir is primarily based on five rows of MV6 heritage clones, colonial vine stock material first imported to Australia by James Busby in 1832.
Ageing
The Reserve Pinot Noir is unfiltered and matured in new French Allier oak for up to 20 months.
