Joseph Drouhin established the eponymous négociant company in 1880 after spending much of his early life in Yonne. In 1918, his son Maurice took over, acquiring the first vineyards, including the renowned Clos des Mouches, which we proudly present below. Maurice faced the arduous task of expanding within Burgundy’s fragmented vineyard ownership but ultimately built a lasting family empire.

A prominent figure in Beaune, Maurice served on the INAO committee and as deputy administrator of the Hospices de Beaune during World War II. At his peak, Drouhin had exclusive distribution rights to Domaine de la Romanée-Conti but missed the opportunity to purchase a share, which went to Leroy.

Maurice's nephew, Robert Jeausset-Drouhin, succeeded him in 1957. While Robert remains involved, he has handed over primary control to his children, the fourth generation: Frédéric, Laurent, Philippe, and Véronique. Philippe manages the vineyards biodynamically, and since 2009, their entire range has been ECOCERT organic certified.
