A rare mature Barossa Valley Shiraz from Rockford’s discontinued SVS — Special Vineyard Selection — program. The SVS wines were produced in very small quantities, typically around 100 to 300 cases per vintage, and were historically sold primarily through Rockford’s cellar door after extended ageing before release.
The 1996 Moorooroo is a rich and concentrated expression of Shiraz, combining mature Barossa depth with dark fruit, chocolate and spice. With the SVS program now discontinued, bottles from these releases are increasingly difficult to find.
Wine Style
Rich, intense and complex old-vine Shiraz with deep dark-fruit character, including blackcurrant and plum, supported by chocolate and spice notes.
Special Vineyard Selection
Rockford’s SVS — Special Vineyard Selection — wines were niche, small-production releases created to highlight distinctive vineyard material. Production was typically only around 100 to 300 cases per vintage. The wines were historically sold mainly through the cellar door and were often held for many years before release. The SVS program has since been discontinued.
