Laphroaig Strong Character Chapter 1 'Donald Johnston' 33 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml Gift Box

About This Whisky

Laphroaig Strong Characters Chapter 1 is a rare 33 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky created as the opening release in a series celebrating the people who shaped the history of Laphroaig.

Chapter 1 honours Donald Johnston, the elder of the two brothers who founded Laphroaig Distillery in 1815. The presentation features distinctive illustrations by award-winning British artist Bill Bragg, bringing Johnston's story and the distillery's heritage to life.

Matured for 33 years in a selection of American oak ex-bourbon casks and European oak sherry-seasoned hogsheads, the whisky combines Laphroaig's characteristic peat smoke with layers of sweetness, gentle sherry influence and long-aged complexity.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Creamy fudge with honey and a touch of sea salt.

Palate: Starting with stewed fruit and smooth vanilla crème brûlée.

Finish: Our iconic smoky finish sets the scene for savoury aromas of cured meat.
