“From the Murray Darling comes one super, super dry prosecco with a touch of floral panache. Spring blossom and gentle honeysuckle mix with citrus, apple and pear on a smooth palate with less of the obvious zestiness associated with the style. This is a little more restrained and definitely food friendly.”

About This Wine

Prosecco is made from the Glera grape variety. Chalmers imported Prosecco through the Dr. Rod connection with VCR together with the first vine imports selected in 1998, decades before the variety and wine style gained international popularity.

The variety’s mid-late ripening behaviour is well suited to warmer climate viticulture. Flavour ripeness at lower sugar levels, combined with sandy soils and limestone in the Murray Darling region, promotes pristine and pure fruit flavours favourable for sparkling wine production.

The wine is typically harvested in mid-late February over two separate harvests approximately 10 days apart to allow subtle complexity. Each parcel is pressed to stainless steel for cool, natural ferments on solids, followed by maturation on fine lees in stainless steel and early bottling for freshness.
