Overview

When O’Shea first walked Rosehill in 1945, he saw in it something extraordinary, the same rare character he recognised in Old Hill and Old Paddock. The vines planted the following year have never left that promise behind.

Exclusively sourced from these original 1946 plantings, this wine reflects the earliest and most elemental expression of Rosehill. Slow ripening on volcanic soils builds concentrated yet delicate flavours and aromatics, supported by fine tannins delivering balance and depth.

Vineyard

Rosehill is one of Mount Pleasant's historic Hunter Valley vineyard sites. The original block, known as Creek Block, was planted in 1946 by Maurice O'Shea. The elevated Rosehill site is characterised by rich volcanic loam and a north-easterly aspect, conditions that favour gradual ripening and the vineyard's signature floral Shiraz character.
