The 2023 Henschke Keyneton Euphonium Shiraz Blend is a classic Barossa red blend presented in 1.5L Magnum format. Built around Shiraz from up to 50-year-old vines in the Eden and Barossa Valleys, it is blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc for structure, depth and aromatic lift.
Named after the Barossa hills village of Keyneton and the Henschke family’s historic brass band, Keyneton Euphonium is one of Henschke’s signature Shiraz-led blends, combining richness, savoury detail and long-term cellaring potential.
The 2023 vintage followed well above-average winter and spring rainfall, with cool, dry summer conditions and a slower ripening period into autumn. The season produced wines of fruit purity, mature tannins, good structure and impressive length.
The blend is 65% Shiraz, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. It was matured in 10% new and 90% seasoned French oak hogsheads for 17 months prior to blending and bottling.
94 points - Winepilot, tasted April 2026
Winepilot described it as a composed Shiraz Cabernet with ripe plums, blackberries, cassis, herbs, leaves, woody spice, red earth, dried flowers and cocoa, noting its buoyant fruit and strong ageing potential.
Silver Medal - Melbourne Royal Show, awarded 2025
Silver Medal awarded for the 2023 vintage.
Deep ruby with garnet hues. Intense aromas of fresh-cut plum, blackberry, mulberry and blueberry are woven through spice notes of anise, clove, mace and black pepper. The palate is savoury and medium-bodied, with blue and black fruits layered with crushed dried herbs, fresh acidity and supple, fine-grained tannins carrying impressive length and depth.
Pair with beef, venison, roast lamb, braised short rib, grilled ribeye, mushroom dishes or aged hard cheeses.
Excellent vintage. Henschke notes cellaring potential of 25+ years from vintage, while Wine-Searcher lists a drinking window of 2028-2040.
The Henschke family has been making wine in the Barossa’s Eden Valley since 1868. Today, Stephen and Prue Henschke are recognised internationally for exceptional quality wines, organic and biodynamic vineyard practices, sustainability leadership and some of Australia’s most celebrated single-vineyard releases, including Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone.
