Le Clos Goillotte is a rare and distinguished monopole in Vosne-Romanée comprising 0.55 hectares.
The vineyard is located fifty metres from La Tâche and was purchased from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in 1988.
Domaine Prieuré Roch regards this site as a rare plot of Grand Cru quality.
The vineyard has a history dating to 1763 when a winery and large mansion were built beside the garden vineyard for the Prince of Conti.
In 2023, the harvest exceeded AOC regulations and the domaine chose to declassify this monopole to Vin de France Pinot Noir Goillotte.
The vines are approximately 50 years old.
The 2023 vintage was described by Yannick Champ as a warm, generous year producing ripe, balanced wines that are deeply expressive of their terroir.
A wine that some call “feminine” for its infinite roundness and its exceptional delicacy. A jewel.
Domaine Prieuré Roch was established by Henri Frédéric Roch, who also served as Co-Director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
He established Domaine Prieuré Roch in 1988 when he acquired vineyards including the Clos Goillotte monopole in Vosne-Romanée and the Clos des Corvées monopole in Nuits-Saint-Georges.
His desire was to produce Burgundy from exceptional vineyards that would display the characteristics of site and season without the influences of conventional wine production, with no chemicals used in the vineyard and no additions to the wines, including no added sulphites.
The domaine is now led by Yannick Champ, who has worked at Domaine Prieuré Roch for more than twenty years and continues the philosophy established by Henri Roch.
Vinification is 100% whole cluster fermentation with traditional punching down and remontage by gravity. There is no fining or filtering and all fermentations are completed with native yeasts.
