Les Faconnieres is one of Domaine Lignier-Michelot’s emblematic Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru wines, produced from some of the domaine’s oldest Pinot Noir vines. Combining old-vine depth with a high proportion of whole-bunch fermentation, it reflects the domaine’s emphasis on freshness, aromatic complexity and the character of its Burgundy terroir.
Vineyard
Les Faconnieres is a Premier Cru vineyard in Morey-Saint-Denis in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. The domaine describes these as its oldest vines, with some more than 65 years old. More than 3,500 bottles are produced each year.
Viticulture & Winemaking
The domaine places particular emphasis on freshness and traditional Burgundian methods. Les Faconnieres is vinified with approximately 80% whole bunches. Across the domaine, wines are typically matured for 10 to 13 months in barrel before being assembled in stainless steel for a further four months. New oak does not exceed 30%.
Producer
Domaine Lignier-Michelot is based in Morey-Saint-Denis and is run by Laure and Virgile Lignier. The family has cultivated vines in the village since the early 20th century. The domaine produces wines across Morey-Saint-Denis and neighbouring Côte de Nuits appellations, including holdings in Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. Its approach focuses on expressing individual terroirs with freshness, balance and the aromatic finesse of Pinot Noir.
