Crafted from just eight exceptional barrels, Sanguine Estate D'Orsa Reserve Shiraz is the estate's flagship expression of Heathcote Shiraz. Named in honour of the family's great-great-grandfather Pietro D'Orsa, this limited release combines formidable depth and structure with fruit purity, balance and a cellaring potential of up to 20 years.

Vintage

Spring rainfall and a cooler summer shaped the 2022 growing season. Despite conditions commonly associated with a lighter style, the resulting wine displays remarkable concentration, richness and vitality.

Producer Tasting Notes

In the glass, it shines deep crimson with a vibrant purple hue, immediately promising intensity. The nose is layered and alluring—dark blackberry and blueberry fruit weave seamlessly with hints of dried herbs, earthy spice, and subtle smoky oak. The palate follows with richness and vitality: lush fruit wrapped in soft, flowing tannins, delivering extraordinary length and persistence.

Hallmark Heathcote hues – so deep, dark and so impenetrable. D'Orsa is built around time in bottle; the tannin structure tells you as much, and in '22 it presents as quite a force … Finishes on a tantalising and lingering blackstrap licorice intensity. A wine to give more, the more it is aged.
