The 2016 Roagna Crichet Pajè Barbaresco is an extraordinarily rare and profound expression of Nebbiolo, drawn from the most exceptional old-vine parcels within the Pajè vineyard. Vineyard and Winemaking

Crichet Pajè is sourced from Roagna’s oldest vines within the Pajè cru, some planted over 80 years ago, rooted in calcareous marl soils in the heart of the Barbaresco commune. Yields are minuscule, harvested entirely by hand. Fermentation is conducted with indigenous yeasts in large wooden vats, followed by very long maceration to extract depth and tannin gently. The wine is aged for around five years in large neutral Slavonian oak botti, then further refined in bottle before release. No fining or filtration is used, ensuring absolute transparency of site and vine age.

Tasting Notes

The bouquet is intensely layered and precise, revealing sour cherry, dried rose, blood orange, and wild strawberry, interwoven with notes of ironstone, anise, crushed herbs, and wet stone.
