A mature old-vine Barossa Valley Shiraz, presented in an individual handmade gift box. Eight years in the making, the wine spent four years in new French oak followed by four years in bottle before release.
Vintage
The cooler 2006 vintage produced a restrained and elegant expression of Barossa Shiraz, with underlying power and significant ageing potential.
Vineyard
Produced from hand-picked, hand-pruned old vines in the Barossa Valley.
Winemaking
The fruit was fermented in open vessels and basket pressed before maturation on lees in new French oak for four years. The wine then received a further four years of bottle ageing.
Producer Tasting Notes
“The 2006 Sandscrub is a baby. The power is there, but restraint is evident in its unlikely elegance. I think it’s a wine for the ages. It’s got the balance of the 2002, with the seductive beauty of the 2003, and it’s poised to go another mile or two yet. If you can’t wait, and have to open one straight away, I’d recommend you open it in the morning and drink it that night.” — Rusden Wines
